Ava's Halloween Costume

Posted by Heather Seeley at 11:04 AM 0 comments
So I am trying to pick out the perfect Halloween costume for Ava. As of right now we have a pumpkin onesie from Walmart. I would like something a little more original. Any suggestions?

Check out some of these cute costumes I found online.

Diaper Bag Must Haves

Posted by Heather Seeley at 10:37 AM 0 comments
Here is a list of things I carry in my diaper bag. I keep adding and taking away things to the bag. One thing I am realizing is that it is important to find a bag with pockets that are easy to access. Also, I recommend not investing a lot of money in a bag. I purchased mine from Target for $25.

1) I have discovered that I always need to bring food with me. Ava is on formula so I bring an empty bottle and powder so I can make her a bottle at any time.

2) Of course...DIAPERS! I carry 5-10 with me at all times. Don't forget to replace them when you get home.

3) Zip-loc bags. These are good for a number of things like dirty clothes and dirty diapers.

4) Wet wipes

5) Purell or antibacterial lotion

Baby Medicine Cabinet Must Haves

Posted by Heather Seeley at 9:19 AM 0 comments
Before bringing Ava home from the hospital I wanted to have my medicine cabinet stocked to make sure I was prepared for those "just in case" moments. Below I have listed some must haves and nice-to-haves. Let me know if there is anything you think I should add to the list.

1. Thermometer - I have both a Braun ear thermometer and a regular thermometer that the pediatrician said we could put under her arm.

2. Vaseline - This is something everyone should have handy. It is great for parents to take care of their baby boy's circumcision, dry skin, and even diaper rash. ( I also use it for my chapped lips :) )

3. Infant Acetaminophen - This is used to treat mild pain and to reduce fever. There are many different brands out there so be sure to read dosage instructions. Never give acetaminophen to babies under 3 months old without consulting your pediatrician.

4. Baby Emery Board and Nail Clippers - Ava is 2 months old and I have yet to clip her nails. I have been using a baby emery board and even biting off her hang nails. I think next time I will try to use the clippers. I am a little scared.

5. Sunscreen - This is especially good for all of those summer babies. Neutrogena now has a baby sunscreen that is great.

TIP For Bathtime

Posted by Heather Seeley at 6:38 AM 2 comments
Here is a quick tip for a more enjoyable bath. We found that by placing a warm washcloth over Ava's stomach and having her feet partially submerged in water, keeps her happy and warm during bath time. Since we have started doing this, Ava has not cried during her bath.
Check out my youtube channel where I will be reviewing different bottles.

Top 5 Things Every New Parent Needs

Posted by Heather Seeley at 9:13 AM 0 comments
Following are the top 5 things I think every new parent needs. Let me know what you think and if you have anything to add.

1. Mylicon - This is a must! Most babies will experience gas discomfort often caused by swallowing air and some formulas and foods. These drops help reduce the discomfort and are safe for infants.

***Tip*** I buy my drops from Target or Walmart. They average around $3.50. The store brands at a drugstore can be up to $10.00.

2. Oxiclean Baby - One of my friends recommended this to me before Ava was born and I must say it has been a lifesaver. It is great to get out baby food stains. Oxiclean Baby is fragrance and dye free.

3. Boudreaux's Butt Paste - This is great diaper rash cream. All of my friends use it for their babies and love how easily it cleans off and the way it treats diaper rash.

4. Camera - A camera is a must! I would definitely recommend bringing your camera to the hospital to capture your babies very first moments in the world. We ended up getting a Nikon D40 and love it.

5. TIVO/DVR - I know this doesn't have anything to do with a baby but when you are up for the late night feedings it is great to have a DVR so you can catch up on all of your shows. I can't tell you how many nights I been glad to have my recording of Project Runway.

****I do not receive anything from these companies. These products are what I have found work for me.
